New banner ads on your blog - Dont worry just read this!
Dont worry about the ads, we had to take down our test server to keep server costs down so were doing the testing on site. Were working on making the ads optional but the first hill was making all the ads appear on all blogs across server. If we carnt work out how to make them optional in a week then they’ll just be removed and we will work on other ways to breakeven the costs of keeping our 1,700 users blogs up

This is only a test run we could easily have 12 popups, 4 popunders, and 100 banner ads always visable if we wanted 
But choseit is not a business, its a free service, kind of like a charity, we give out the free blogs so that people can express themselves. We have not been making any money on choseit since we opened but the server costs are greater now $70 a month (which is not bad for 1,700 bloggers). But with exchange rates (we’re english) its bringing cost up more than we can just spend.
We did have google adsense revenue share so that if the user chose to use ads then 30% of the time our google ads would be shown but a few shifty users decided to click their own ads to try and scam google. Google caught on and has told us we can no longer use their ads on choseit….
So you can see our side i hope
(and if we asked each user of the 1,700 to give us $0.05 we would have $85 a month and be fine but funnily enough not even 20 users will even reply to mandatory reply emails due to lazyness or to actually setting our free service emails to spam). But oh well one day when I have time ill be going through all 1,700 blogs and all that are not being used properly will be deleated so we just have the users that actually want to use choseit properly.

Wow….drag. I just started using Choseit, and specifically went with this service because there were no ads and I could monetize it myself.
I did not receive any e-mail to the very best of my knowledge asking for financial support…
Is there/will there be any option for opting out of the banner ads in some way?
Yupp, dont worry here at choseit we do not enforce anything that makes you have to change your own style. As said give us just one week starting today and if we can not make the banner ads an optional thing then we will remove them and everyone can be ad free again
To give you an update on where we are;
As I was writing this post i actually thoguht of a way it might be possible to make the banner ads optional by a plugin. However, i need to wait till i can talk to my plugin designer about it but i feel very confident it will work

theyll be gone by next neek if we carnt figure it out and theyll be gone even quicker if we figure out how to make them optional

You have no idea how much I appreciate your interaction and updates. I’ve had a poor experience on another blogging network, which I hope to replace with choseit.com.
Really, the banner ad on the blog is not horrible, and I do understand your side of things. If you must put advertisements on the blogs, is there a possibility that you could put them somewhere besides over the header? I’m hoping to do something custom with that header, if I can figure out how, and a banner ad over it would kinda suck.
I’m looking to build content and ranking for the blog before I monetize it, but would personally have no problem kicking you guys a couple of bucks a month or a small percentage or something to keep choseit.com viable. I’m glad I found you!
